I baked a cake

So today was 2 of my friends from churches birthdays. So what did I do? I baked a cake! I split it in half so that they each had a side... :) they loved it and it tasted really good! :) Barbara likes to garden so I filled her side with flowers and on Bob's side I put a tennis court with a tennis net made out of melted chocolates because he likes to play tennis. What do you think?! ;)

The completed cake

my shirt looked like when I was done decorating and baking... I was a mess! :)

My Camera

So if you have been following my blog for a little bit you will know that I have a new camera! It is a Canon T2i! And I LOVE it! :) Before it I had just a point and shoot so this is an awesome step up! I am loving every moment with it.

All of the pictures you have  seen (so far) are taken with the t2i (Since Christmas 2011) with a standard lens. (18-55mm) I hope soon to get a new lens- possibly 2! I do have a small studio in my bedroom. I will include pictures of it soon! I now have studio lighting too! :) I also have a Fisheye Lens too but I don't think I have posted any pictures of it so far...

I have a multitude of different filters so I don't know which ones were used when in each picture. I have Starbursts, Macro,UV, Florescent, Polarizing, Rainbow, Prism... a few others too. :) I was truly blessed that when I got a DLSR my grandmother gave me her old camera accessories! (Thanks Meem!) They were made for a 52mm but some are 58mm and they make step up adapters and step down adapters which is wonderful! I love my camera! I hope to keep posting picutes up and I hope you will keep taking the time to look and comment on them!

As for other acessories... I have a remote shutter release, and a tripod. Not to exciting but still fun!

New Dress!

I LOVE to sew! I love it! :) So when I first found Pinterest I feel head over heels in love with this dress! I finally made it! What do you think?! I LOVE IT! :)
The Front

The Back
I finally learned how to use Photoshop enough to twirl my face out! Yay! hehe!

The dress took me about 1 and 1/2 hours to make... not bad. I have never made any piece of clothing from start to finish all by myself and I did this time so I am very happy! I hemmed it too! :)  A first for many things! :) It was super fun and a wonderful learning experience! If you want more specifics let me know!

Circle Bead Bracelet Tutorial

So I have a new tutorial for you!!! Wahoo! I pulled out one of my old designs and decided that you may like to see how I make it! I love this design! I used to wear it every day when I was around 7 years old. I designed it then. Its cute and easy!
Here is the finished product... :)

What you need:
Beads
Beading Thread
Scissors
A Clasp

To Start, cut a piece of thread 3 inches longer than 2x the length of your wrist.
To start thread 8 beads on to the center of your thread. Then take one of the ends of beads and thread it through the center of the last bead on the opposite thread. (Confusing language but look at the picture...) Make sure that your beads are in the CENTER of your thread otherwise your bracelet will be completely off!

Pull tight.
Next, Put 4 beads on one end of the thread and 3 on the other.
Like we did before, only this time it matters which one you stick through the center! Take the thread that has 3 beads on it and stick it through the 4th bead on the other thread.
Continue! At this point I realized that I did not want to be sitting there doing this all night because I was using seed beads and they were way to tiny. SO I did 3 of these circles and then moved on to E beads because they are bigger. You can do what ever you want- you can do them all small or all big or mix them up!
Here is my transition to the bigger beads. I like these ones better...they don't make as nice circles but I think that was just me. :) (just keep going)
I kept going with the big beads and then I switched back to the smaller ones so it would look like I did it on purpose.
Tada! All you need to do now is tie it off and add a clasp!

All Done!

So what do you think? Is there something else you want me to post about? Let me know!!! :)

bIRTHDAY cAKE

Disclamer- I did not make this... My stepmom did.. :) She did an amazing job didn't she?!

This was the trial cake... well what was left of it... We ate most of it :)

This is the full view of the cake... Don't mind the crazy background those hadn't been frosted yet. The Top Tier- with the bow is I think to kinda represent what I did on my Birthday Cake last year.... But I don't know! :) I love it! The Tiara(see close up below) has a 16 on it to represent my age. (EEK! :o) The Middle Tier represents my syndrome- Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The last tier represents my love for music and LIME GREEN! :) THANKS STACEY for the amazing cake!

I'm 16!!!!! I proceeded to wear the crown around for the next 3 days... (even to the drs in Boston... :) needless to say I made friends)

Jobs...

So...Jobs.... How does a teenager find one? Especially a teen with health problems? I started looking today (again) and found a couple websites that say that you can earn money by blogging and using some thing from Google called Adsense. But once you look into the Adsense- you have to be 18... NOOOOOO! I would love a job where I could proof read at home or on the computer, write, or even tutor and earn money! But there is really isn't any thing out there for that! That my friends, irks me! I would love to get a new camera but to get one I need money and to get money I need a job. GRRRRR! That is frustrating. I am a soccer Referee from which I get about $60 a year. (if that) which is a nice start and all but it really is slow and not what I would like to be doing. I can't drive, I don't have a way to get places easily and I live in a swamp. How on earth am I going to find a job! ;) Any Suggestions?

Until Later,
Sarah
